Professor Prabir Karmakar is the Founder President of Karmakar Institute of Yoga. He started yoga at the age of 8 and began teaching when he was 18 years old. He has taught yoga for over 30 years and conducted workshops in many countries.
He taught Yoga Studies and Philosophy in a major Russian university. He was invited as the man speaker at a convention in Tokyo, Japan in the subject of yoga science and meditation.
He obtained a diploma from the International Federation for Sports Yoga. When he was in India, he was appointed as the Secretary General for Jharkhand Yoga Association and one of the Executives for Yoga Federation of India. Professor Prabir is also an accomplished Yoga judge, judging many National yoga asana competitions in India since 1989.

Professor Prabir is a sport lover. He was not only a champion in yoga but also a champion in arm wrestling. He won the Bihar State Wrestling Championship as well as All East India Championship. The Indian Arm Wrestling Team invited him to be one of their core members and competed in World Arm Wrestling Championship.
Professor Prabir Karmakar has made Hatha Yoga popular in various countries. He developed a sequence, namely Karmakar Yoga, according to his own practice and it is based on the Balance of strength and flexibility, the Perfection of alignment and a Healthy mind and body. His belief is "When you achieve a posture, it should be effortless!"
He has been teaching yoga in Hong Kong since 2003. In 2008 Yoga Yoga, Hong Kong invited him and his team to join the company. Later of the year he appointed as the Yoga Advisor of Passion India, a Hong Kong based organization with the aim of promoting Yoga and Indian Classical Dance. As the Associate Director of Hong Kong Yogathon, Professor Prabir K coordinated with many other yoga centers in Hong Kong, successfully brought forward yoga events in 2008 and 2009.
