Karmakar Institute of Yoga
Professor Prabir Karmakar has taught yoga over 30 years and has made Hatha Yoga popular in various countries. He developed a sequence, namely Karmakar Yoga, according to his own practice and it is based on the Balance of strength and flexibility, the Perfection of alignment and a Healthy mind and body. His belief is "When you achieve a posture, it should be effortless!"
Karmakar Yoga
There are 21 postures with 7 standing, 7 sitting and 7 lying. They are backward bend, forward bend, twisting, and balancing postures. Every posture is followed by a counter posture. Pranayama, Nadi Shodhana (alternative nostril breathing) is practiced before the savasana, final relaxation. This breathing has the balancing effect in the body and mind. Together with the 21 postures, Nadi Shodhana brings any unbalanced part of the body to a well-balanced stage!
The sequence is designed to have a overall stretching and strengthening of the body.
